Post subject: BOOB number withdrawn from Auction!
PostPosted: Thu Aug 18, 2005 8:56 am
Registration mark 13 OOB (Lot 991) has been withdrawn from next months DVLA number plate sale at Sketchley Grange, Hinckley, East Midlands.
In September 2003, DVLA sold 8 OOB for £6900 and 80 OBS made £10000 in October 2004, so why withdraw this one??

32 DD & 34 DD were both sold to Page 3 models in 1998 so they could display their assets in more ways than one!

In the past other numbers like F1 UFF, F1 APS, CUM 1N have all been sold through DVLA auctions.

They are probably tightening up on plates that will be mispresented? We all know that whoever would have bought 13 OOB would have closed the 1 & 3 to make it appear as a 'B' and the 30mm space between the numbers & letters will be removed so it reads 'BOOB'
Many people now mispresent thier reg number and its gonna spoil it for the rest. You get boy racers with ordinary reg numbers like AB51 CDE who have plates made up with incorrect fonts (pencil line / script / brush strokes / etc) where the Country Identifier is they have a picture of some logo or other then they have some tasteless slogan along the bottom of the plate. If DVLA get tough with these they must enforce all offences not just cherry pick.................................

My guess is they are trying to stop any reg's that may be made to look like a offensive word, I know BOOB is not offensive to most but we all know the way the world is going, remember the little black man on the jam advert..... I think a few plates have been issued then DVLA have have taken them back. A pal of mine had B16 NOB taken off him but then they let him keep B19 NOB!

Anyone know of any other similar?

Not so long ago DVLA withdrew a number ending in UNT from a m/cycle.

I just done a search for A6 UNT (No prizes for guessing where the bolt goes lol) and surprisingly a dealer's offering it for £5500 - Personally I cannot see that being available?

I once sold H10 UNT to a gentleman called Mr Hunt.
Use your foul language vocabulary, put a bolt through the 0 and move it over and guess what you spell! charming!

Hi all, keep the interesting chat going,

Just for the record, DVLA withdrew all remaining prefix plates with UNT earlier this year (2005). All numbers in existance either on Certificate already purchased or transferred to vehicles will still be permitted to use.
However, Police officers may not take kindly to mis-spaced abusive numbers.

Also anything 05 & 55 ending in HAT were also withdrew this year by DVLA. e.g HE55 HAT, presumably for the reason that any mis-representation could make it - HE5 5HAT.

DVLA have stopped issuing the SN prefix with '07' lear letter because it looks like SNOT, so these 07's in Scotland are being given TN prefix numbers.

I saw this last week on a HGV crossing the Severn Bridge, the severns weren't so slanted and the tops of the '7's were cropped and a bolt between the two 7's made it look like an italic 'H' so it read 'WHORE' Charming!
