HAVE YOU REMEMBERED TO RENEW YOUR PHOTOCARD LICENCE?

Norwich Union has issued a warning to all motorists that their photocard licences might need to be renewed in the coming months.


The company estimates 290,000 people could be driving illegally if they forget to renew their photocard licences, because they acquired them ten years ago.

UK Licencing laws state that drivers who hold a photocard licence need to renew their photograph at the ten year point, which for thousands of drivers fell in July of this year - exactly a decade after the introduction of the counterpart licence.

Norwich Union says having an invalid photograph will not affect its customers' cover, however.

Nigel Bartram from Norwich Union said: "We would recommend that if you do own a photocard licence from the latter half of 1998 that you renew the photograph and keep the DVLA updated on any changes to your personal details such as change of address.

"However, we want to reassure customers that Norwich Union will not use having an outdated photocard as a reason to void a claim."
