RMIF WORKS TO STANDARDISE DVLA SERVICES FOR DEALERS

The Retail Motor Industry Federation (RMIF) is campaigning for benchmark standards to be set for services such as vehicle change of ownership, registration, taxation, and cherished number transfers, as provided to vehicle dealers by the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA).


The RMIF is seeking to establish a service level agreement (SLA) between the DVLA and the industry that would formalise the DVLA’s obligations to businesses, and provide continuity across the DVLA’s network of regional offices.

Sue Robinson, RMIF Director, commented: ‘Service levels at local DVLA offices vary widely at present. A service level agreement could lead to a common standard of service throughout the UK. The SLA could also help improve processes and implement policy changes with a minimum impact on our members and the DVLA.’

The RMIF is working in conjunction with the Freight Transport Association (FTA) and the British Vehicle Rental and Leasing Association (BVRLA) on the initiative.

This is the second SLA that the RMIF has sought to establish for its members in recent months, as it is also currently working with the Vehicle and Operator Services Agency (VOSA) to draft an SLA for the MOT sector.
