Are tinted, carbon or coloured characters allowed?
No. The characters on UK plates must be solid black on a reflective white or yellow background. Carbon, honeycomb, shadow, coloured or tinted designs are not legal and can lead to a failed MOT (and potentially a fine of up to £1,000) Keep your plates clear and compliant to avoid any issues with ANPR, MOT and Law enforcement.
