What's the difference between V5C, V750, V778 and EV948 ?
These are all DVLA documents relating to number plates.
- V750 – Certificate of Entitlement: for brand-new, previously un-issued registrations, that have never been registered to a vehicle before in their lifetime.
- V778 – Retention Document: for plates that have been previously used on vehicles and have now been taken off (held on retention)
- V5C – Vehicle Log Book: confirms who the registered keeper is and which registration is currently assigned, along with the vehicle details, make, model, engine size, VIN number.
- V948 or eV948 – Authorisation Certificate: allows an RNPS-registered supplier to make up your physical number plates if any of the above documents are not in your possession.
