Can I buy a private plate if I live outside the UK?
Yes, you can. Anyone can own a UK registration, even if they live overseas. The registration can only be assigned to a UK-registered vehicle or kept on a DVLA certificate (V750 or V778) until you’re ready to use it. DVLA Certificates usually require a UK address. Many overseas customers assign registrations to their UK vehicles when they return or when their vehicles are delivered.
